November 2022 Employees of the Month
GGUSD’s Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize employees who: put others first; go above and beyond to make a difference in their role; carry out each day with a positive attitude and strong work ethic and demonstrate innovation, leadership, and passion for their job.
Our Classified Employee of the Month is Cris Harkleroad, who joined our district in 2015 as a Groundskeeper/Gardener and was promoted to Lead Groundskeeper/Gardener in 2016. Cris was nominated for this recognition by the team at Eisenhower Elementary School for his heroic actions in coming to the aid of a student who fell ill during P.E. class due to the high heat. Cris went above and beyond to provide care and ensure the student was feeling better. He’s also contributed his own time to help build the school’s amazing learning garden. Cris is exceptional at maintaining and keeping our school landscapes looking beautiful and carries out his job with kindness and compassion when working with others.
Our Certificated Employee of the Month is Cathy Choi-Kim who joined the district in 1996 as a teacher at Lawrence Elementary School. She currently teaches first grade at Lawrence but has taught kindergarten through third grade over the years. Cathy was nominated for this recognition by a parent who said that Cathy is a gifted and knowledgeable teacher who truly cares about her students. Cathy’s classroom is fun and engaging and she has a unique gift for getting students excited about what they are learning. She is greatly respected by her colleagues at Lawrence who speak highly about her ability to meet the needs of all students.
