May 2022 Employees of the Month

GGUSD’s Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize employees who: put others first; go above and beyond to make a difference in their role; carry out each day with a positive attitude and strong work ethic and demonstrate innovation, leadership, and passion for their job.

Marlene Miramontes

Our Classified Employee of the Month is Marlene Miramontes.  She joined the district in 2005 as a college worker, then served as a substitute clerk in Business Services for one year, an Accounting Technician I for many years and now as Accounting Technician II. Marlene was nominated for this recognition by a coworker who said she is a hard worker who is always willing to help out her coworkers in whatever way she can.  Marlene is known for her positive energy, always coming to work with a smile, and possesses a unique ability to spread joy to others, making the stress of the day fall away.

Jay Heck

Our Certificated Employee of the Month is Jay Heck. Jay joyed the district in 1990 as a teacher serving at Marshall Elementary School before serving as a Student Program Facilitator/Administrative Assistant at Clinton and Heritage.  In 1997, Jay began serving as Supervisor of the Assessment and Registration Center until 2007 when he began his current role as Coordinator of the Assessment and Registration Center. Jay was nominated for Employee of the Month by two of his employees who had extremely kind words to share about Jay’s leadership style.  Jay is described as being very knowledgeable about his work and a servant leader. He is the first to arrive, the last to leave, and is genuinely kind and caring. He is skilled at motivating his team who will sorely miss him when he retires next month.
