GGUSD Continues to Offer Low Cost Meal Options to Students

GGUSD again maintained the same prices for all regular student meals, offering the same low meal prices as those offered last year, including $1.25 for elementary breakfast, $2.00 for elementary lunch, $1.50 for intermediate breakfast, $2.50 for intermediate lunch, $1.75 for high school breakfast, and $3.00 for high school lunch.

A new program introduced this year allows students who attend Russell Elementary Language Academy to receive breakfast and lunch each day at no charge. Russell Elementary Language Academy qualified for the free meal program thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision through the National School Lunch and Breakfast program.

GGUSD also introduced the Super Snack Program, which serves approximately 945 students at 11 school sites, during Boys & Girls Clubs after school programs. The federally-funded program aims to provide nutritious snacks to children and teens. Schools participating in the Super Snack Program include Crosby, Excelsior, Heritage, Paine, Parkview, Rosita, Russell, Stanford, Sunnyside, Warren, and Woodbury elementary schools.

The National School Lunch Program is offered at all district schools; the National School Breakfast Program is available at 40 elementary schools, all 10 intermediate schools, and 7 high schools; and the After-School Snack Program is available at 29 elementary schools, 9 intermediate schools, and 4 high schools.  GGUSD also offers free summer meals at dozens of school sites to ensure children do not go hungry when school is not in session.

Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, GGUSD’s Food Services Department replaced its online meal payment system MySchoolBucks with Titan School Solutions, a new and improved online application and payment system which is available for all families. Through the new program, parents may apply for free or reduced meal benefits as well as prepay for their child’s meals.
