| I want to take this opportunity to say welcome to Wakeham Elementary School. Home of the Wildcats! My name is Alicia Corulla and I am proud to serve as the Principal. Wakeham serves approximately 400 students from the communities of Garden Grove and Stanton in grades Kindergarten through Sixth. We aggressively pursue the highest standards for our students in all academic areas through the faithful implementation of core programs. We believe strongly that every student has the right to the best education in a safe environment that builds resiliency and pride in one's accomplishments.
Staff development is an ongoing pursuit for all of our employees. Teachers are held accountable to have an understanding of grade level and English Learner standards, and to demonstrate effective instructional strategies that provide access to those standards for all students. These strategies include, but are not limited to: Direct Instruction, Differentiated Instruction, SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) strategies, Reciprocal Teaching (RT), and the use of Thinking Maps in all curriculum areas.
