Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
Welcome to Riverdale Elementary School! At Riverdale we work hard to plan and implement programs that meet the needs of all our students. Parent involvement is very important for our students because it helps them to experience their parents’ interest and support for the learning process. We will be extending many invitations for parents to participate in a variety of programs throughout the school year. Communication between home and school is directly related to student success and you are encouraged to actively participate in your child’s school program. We will be sending school notices home on Wednesdays. Parents are asked to read this information carefully. All parents are welcome to call or visit the school office. The staff and I want to make this a successful year for your child.
Listed below are some helpful guidelines to assist with making this a successful school year.
ATTENDANCE:
Please call the school office if your child is absent (663-6563). Please send a signed note explaining the absence on the day he/she returns to school. Students should attend school every day and be prompt to class unless they are ill. Students cannot learn if they are not in class during instruction. Students arriving late must be escorted by an adult to the office to obtain a tardy notice in order to be permitted to enter the classroom. Establishing good attendance patterns now will assist students throughout their school and future work life.
BREAKFAST:
Breakfast will be available each day at 8:10 a.m. Students should not arrive at school before 8:10 a.m. because there is no supervision available. Student breakfast: $1.25 (includes milk): milk only: $.50.
LUNCH:
Student lunch prices: $1.50 (includes milk), milk only: $.40. The Free or Reduced Meal Program is available to those who have qualified for this program. All students will bring home an application the first day of school. New students registering on or after the first day of school will receive an application when they register.
PRE PAY MEAL ACCOUNTS
Parents can pre pay for student meals so that it will not be necessary to send money with their child to school each day. The most convenient way to do this is to use www.mylunchmoney.com and use a credit card to add money to their child's account. Parents are notified by email when the amount drops below a certain level. Parents can also pre pay in the school office. The minimum pre-payment is $10.00.
DRESS:
Children must be appropriately dressed for school activities at all times. Shoes must be worn – not sandals. Safety is the main concern. Gang oriented dress or clothing which depicts drugs or alcohol is not allowed. The complete dress code is included in the Riverdale Handbook.
COMMUNICATIONS:
The Riverdale Handbook will be coming home for your review and signature the first week of school. The Riverdale staff maintains close ties with the parents and guardians of our students through notices sent home on Wednesdays, Teleparent Braodcast calls, student agendas, and personal phone calls.
