Drama 1

Course Overview and Requirements

Course Goals

Drama 1 is a course designed for experienced and beginning actors. It is an intensive experience in the many components of acting, including:

  • Focus / Concentration / Relaxation
  • Sense memory and emotional recall
  • Physicalization and Movement
  • Vocalization
  • Characterization through a variety of theorists
  • Scene study in dramatic and comedic venues
  • One-act play development
  • Play writing
  • Beginning production
Drama 1 is NOT an "easy A" course. You are required to have excellent attendance, participate daily, rehearse both in and out of class, be fully prepared for all performances on the dates assigned, keep an ongoing drama notebook, and hand in a personal portfolio at the end of each semester.

Personal Growth

Your personal growth will be in direct proportion to the amount of care you give to yourself in seeking growth experiences. No one from outside can give these to you on a silver platter. Every opportunity in Drama 1 will allow you to grow and develop your acting talents and skills if you let them. If you don't....
