Principal's Message

Welcome Morningside Students, Parents and Friends!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning Morningside families.  The staff and I are committed to making this an exciting and rewarding school year.

Morningside has a long tradition of providing a rigorous, standards-based curriculum with high expectations for all students.  The staff attends a variety of professional development workshops throughout the year to increase and refine their teaching skills.  Our goal is to continually increase student achievement.

Families play a vital role in the educational success of their children.  Research shows that the more involved parents are in their child’s education, the more the child succeeds. Your support is essential to your child’s success in school. When the school, home and child work together, the child receives the best possible education.  You can help by:

  • Ensuring that your child is ready to learn at school:  well-rested, well-groomed with school materials, and arrives on time
  • Checking papers, textbooks, and other materials sent home to know what he is learning.  Attend all conferences and school functions.  Keep the line of communication between home and school open.
  • Ensuring a time and place for students to complete homework.
  • Providing positive or negative reinforcement at home, as necessary, to support the classroom teacher.  Encourage and maintain a positive attitude towards school.
  • Becoming involved in our PTA, School Site Council, English Language Advisory Committee, Parent Workshops and Family Nights.

We are fortunate to have the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove at our site. They offer a daily after school program for a limited number of identified students in grades 3rd-6th.  It is a wonderful program for our students that includes:

      • “Power Hour” where time is spent working on homework
      • Enrichment activities
      • Family Nights

The staff and I are committed to making this school year an exciting and rewarding year for your child.
