The day before our four day weekend in February, twelve of our upper grade stduents (4th, 5th, and 6th grade students) competed in Garden Park Elementary School's annual Spelling Bee. The top four fourth graders, top four fifth graders, and the top two sixth graders sat for nine thousand minutes listening, pronouncing, and spelling challenging words that put their brains to the test.
This year our top speller was a sixth grade student and our runner up was also a sixth grade student. Amber, our top speller, will be representing Garden Park Elementary School at the District Spelling Bee which will take place on the 26th of March. Miss Amber will do an excellent job at the District Spelling Bee. She will outlast many of the other fourty-six students in the district contest and hopefully come back with a spelling trophy.
To show our appreciation, these two sutdents earned a breakfast at Coco's on the day of the district competition, the winner will have her name etched on our school perpetual Spelling Bee placque, and our first and second place students will receive a personalized Spelling Bee placque. The perpetual placque can be seen at any time in our multipurpose room.
All of our Garden Park students deserve an enormous round of applause for their effort and determination to do their best. We were honored to have each of these student represent Garden Park Elementary School. |
