Every year our 6th graders go up to the mountains for a week of learning, fun and building friendships. During the cold month of March, our sixth graders when up to the Arbolado site located in the San Bernadino Mountains.
Our students enjoyed four nights and five days exploring established hiking trails, investigating geological features, observing wildlife, comparing plant adaptations, learning about the stars, and making new friends. All activities were closely aligned with the California Science Content Standards and the California Science Framework.
Their time living up in the mountains enabled our students to gain an awareness and appreciation of the environment. The behaviors of conservation and restoration that were learned will hopefully become life long habits.
This was definately a trip of a lifetime. Our students will have fond memories not only today but well into the future. |
