In the middle of a wet and rainny October day, ten third grade students competed in Garden Park Elementary School's second Math Bee. The competition was tough and lasted approximately 60 minutes. Students were given single and double digit multiplication problems.  The first phase of math computation rounds were simple single digit problems that needed to be completed in five seconds. As the students entered into new phases of the competition, the students were given multiple digit mulitplication problems and were required to complete the computation in 30 seconds or less.

Our school site math competition was exciting and intense.  Johanna in room 5 came in first place and Tracy in room 9 came in second.  These two excellent mathematicians will be recognized at our Open House on June 1, 2011.  Both students will receive a personalized Math Bee placque and Johanna will have her name etched on our Math Bee perpetual placque.

Johanna, our top mathematician in third grade, represented Garden Park Elementary School at the District Math Bee.  This districtwide competition took place on the 1st of December.  Mrs. Johanna was ready to put her best foot forward as she competed against 46 other 3rd grade math students.  She did an excellent job representing Garden Park Elementary School at the district's annual Math Bee.
