February Newsletter...
Principal's Message :
For the fourth year, Evans School will participate in a fundraising program called, “Pennies for Patients”. Beginning February 1st and ending on February 22nd all classrooms will have collection boxes where children can deposit loose change found around the house. “Pennies for Patients” helps support research that may one day find a cure for blood cancers. Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma are types of blood cancers that Pennies for Patients hopes to one day find a cure for. Any pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc. that can be donated would be appreciated.
Also, please continue to encourage your child to do his/her best here at school. We have many incentive programs that encourage positive work habits and student behavior. We will continue to award wrist bands to students who score proficient or advanced on district tests. We will also award wrist bands to students who show growth from one test to the next. These wrist bands, along with the montly and trimester awards, are what we as a school community are doing to encourage our students to reach their potential as a student and as a positive member of our school community. Any encouragement from home is always greatly appreciated.
PTA Meetings:
Our monthly PTA meeting will be on February 14th at 3:00p.m. in the school library. Please come and join the discussion and planning of upcoming school events. Everyone is welcome!
School Parking:
Thank you to all of our parents for not parking behind legally parked cars. This has made our parking situation much easier to handle when people are able to back out of their parking spaces. Please continue to follow our parking lot rules for the rest of the school year.
February Holidays:
Friday, February 3rd is a non-student day for teachers to work in their classrooms. President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday will be observed this year on Monday, February 13, 2012 and President Washington’s birthday will be observed on Monday, February 20, 2012.
