Date: Immediate Red Ribbon Week Activities for GGUSD Schools Oct. 2024 Special classroom lessons, anti-drug essay and poster contests, and the wearing of red by students and staff are some of the many activities planned for Red Ribbon Week in the Garden Grove Unified School District, being observed from October 20 -24. Virtually all district schools are planning special programs in conjunction with this national event for the promotion of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The following are highlights of Red Ribbon Week activities in the district. (Media representatives are invited to attend any event.) Peters Elementary School (K-3), 13162 Newhope St., Garden Grove (663-6085 Wednesday, Oct. 22 Red wristbands distributed to students; Thursday, Oct. 23 Students recite drug-free pledge. Mark Twain School (special education), 11802 Loara St., Garden Grove (663-6050) Monday, Oct. 20 School decorated with red ribbons; Tuesday, Oct. 21 Students prepare anti-drug posters; Thursday, Oct. 23 Winning posters selected; Friday, Oct. 24 UCI students will perform skit with Mark Twain pupils and lead parade featuring the student posters.
