GGUSD Schools to Celebrate 100th Birthday of Dr. Seuss

The nation’s largest read-in returns to classrooms in the Garden Grove Unified School District on Tuesday, March 2, as teachers, librarians, community and parent volunteers, and students take part in “Read Across America,” celebrating the 100th birthday of the late Theodore Geisel, better known to millions as Dr. Seuss.

Read Across America is a literacy effort to stimulate the love of literature and commemorate the achievements of one of America’s most beloved children’s authors. Dr. Seuss’ most famous character, the Cat in the Hat, is the mascot for Read Across America.

GGUSD schools are planning a creative mix of events for this “Seussentennial” including marathon pajama party read-ins, free book distributions, authentic green eggs and ham breakfasts, and classroom visits by guest readers.
