Date: Immediate GG Police Honor Santiago High Assistant Principal David Merito, an assistant principal at Santiago High School in Garden Grove, is the recipient of a ‘Special Recognition’ award presented by the Garden Grove Police Department. He accepted the honor at the department’s Annual Employee Recognition Awards program on February 26. Merito, a resident of Huntington Beach, was singled out for the positive rapport he maintains with Santiago students and the partnership cultivated with GGPD Special Officer Jerry Young to ensure campus safety. “This is a great example of the collaborative effort the Garden Grove Police Department has with the Garden Grove Unified School District,” stated Chief Joe Polisar. Merito has been in his current assignment since 2001. Before coming to Santiago, he served as an assistant principal at Garden Grove and Lake high schools. PR #333-
