Date: Immediate La Quinta High School AD Chosen President-Elect in Professional Organization Jim Perry, athletic director of La Quinta High School in the Garden Grove Unified School District, has been chosen president-elect of the Southwest District of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD). He will serve as president-elect for the 2004-2005 term and assume duties as president the following year. The AAHPERD is a professional organization supporting programs in health education, physical education, and dance. Its southwest district includes Guam, Hawaii, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and the American schools in Europe. Perry, a resident of Huntington Beach, has been the athletic director, basketball coach, and a teacher at La Quinta since 1982. In 2003, the Boys’ and Men’s Athletics Division of the AAHPERD named him ‘Secondary School Educator of the Year’.
