Date: Immediate Gilbert Elementary School Students to 'Sail' Into Thankgiving on Mayflower Replica Kindergarten through third-grade students at Gilbert Elementary School in Garden Grove will re-create the first Thanksgiving, complete with a Mayflower replica, on Wednesday, Nov. 26. More than 400 of Gilbert’s primary grade pupils will portray Pilgrims and Native Americans in the activity scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the school, 9551 Orangewood Ave. The Thanksgiving observance begins with the ceremonial sailing of a 15-foot replica of the Mayflower carried by third-graders in Pilgrim garb. After maneuvering through hallways, the vessel will land at Plymouth Rock – the kindergarten classroom wing – where the Pilgrim students will be welcomed by the younger children portraying Native Americans. The students will feast from a menu of fruit, popcorn, and bread according to Susie Dollbaum, principal.
