Public Information - Press ReleaseRelease
Date: Immediate Fifth-Graders to Tackle Hotel Jobs On Friday, May 7, fifth-graders from Clinton-Mendenhall Elementary School in Garden Grove will tie on aprons, button up bellperson jackets, and don chef hats for the Camp Hyatt Career Day at the Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel (at Harbor Blvd. and Chapman Ave. in Garden Grove). Ten students selected by their teachers will take part in a variety of different job experiences alongside their adult counterparts as concierge, cook, front desk agent, housekeeper, restaurant server, maintenance engineer, and bellperson. The students day will begin with a hotel tour and uniform distribution at 8:45 a.m., and they will join their partner employees at 9:30 a.m. Work shifts will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with a lunch in the employee cafeteria and a recap session with the general manager and other hotel executives. The student general manager will lead the discussion with assistance from the hotel general manger. After career day activities, the students share their experiences back at school with classmates. Hyatt believes this hands-on experience is a great way to introduce kids to employment opportunities in an exciting field, stated Allan Farwell, general manager of the hotel. The Garden Grove students are among more than 2,000 fifth-graders who will work at Hyatt Hotels across the country participating in Camp Hyatt Career Day. Including this year, more than 12,000 fifth-graders have participated since the program began 12 years ago. PR #346 -
