Bell Intermediate School Conference to Cultivate Future Leaders

Bell Intermediate School in Garden Grove is hosting a Student Leadership Conference for a select group of pupils on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at National University’s Orange campus, 765 The City Drive. The comprehensive workshop, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is being planned by the school’s Project B.E.L.L. (Becoming Exceptional Learners and Leaders) committee and is funded by a grant from ExxonMobil Corp., the Bell PTA, and the Associated Student Body.

According to Principal David Biniasz, the conference is a means to identify and train students with leadership potential. Participants will attend sessions on high school and college preparation, leadership skills, and communications. The featured speakers include Pat Hurley, a motivational speaker, and Dave Frost, former pitcher for the California Angels.

More than 100 students were nominated by teachers in the first round of the selection process for the conference. From this group, invitations were extended to 56 students chosen by a screening committee of faculty, students, and parents.
