Date: Immediate GGUSD Employee Ann Sims Honored by Girl Scouts A veteran employee of the Garden Grove Unified School District was honored this week by the Girl Scouts. Ann Sims, GGUSD community services secretary, received the Community Partner Award on November 10 from the Garden Grove Association of the Girl Scout Council of Orange County. She was a unanimous selection of the Association’s leadership. In her position Sims coordinates the after-school and weekend use of district facilities for youth groups and community organizations. Her office processes more than 1,200 requests for meeting rooms and athletic fields at the district’s 70 schools each year. “Ann has always been extremely helpful accommodating the needs of Girl Scout troops in the area,” explained Claudia Tori, membership development director for the Girl Scout Council of Orange County. “We want to thank her and let her know that we appreciate all of her efforts.” Since joining the GGUSD is 1976, Sims as has worked in a variety positions including audio-visual clerk, central office clerk, and secretary of Sunnyside Elementary School. She assumed her current responsibilities in 1993. Sims and her husband, Allen, reside in Anaheim.
