Date: Immediate School Principal Changes and Appointments Announced for 2003-04 School Year in GGUSD
The Garden Grove Unified School District
announced principal appointments and changes in principal assignments
as preparations take place for the 2003-04 school year. Fall classes
begin Thursday, Sept. 4, for all GGUSD students. In the only change at the elementary
level, Jennifer Carter was appointed principal of Faylane Elementary
School. She follows Carolee Ogata, who was recently named director of
K-6 Instruction. Carter comes to the district from Rowland Unified School
District where she served as an elementary school vice principal. She
is a former GGUSD employee, having worked as a teacher at Carver Elementary
School, as a new teacher mentor, and as a student program facilitator
at Hazard Elementary School. At the intermediate school level,
Jane Jones assumes duties as principal of McGarvin Intermediate School,
succeeding Kent Baird who moves to the district office as director of
Certificated Personnel. He follows Frank Mackay who succeeds Jones as
director of 7-12 Instruction. There is also is a leadership change at one district adult education site. Nancy Fyson is leaving her position as director of K-12 Educational Services for her new assignment as principal of Chapman-Hettinga Education Center. She fills the vacancy left by Mitch Thomas, who retired in June after 36 years with the district. The Garden Grove Unified School District serves most of Garden Grove and portions of Santa Ana, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Stanton, Cypress, and Anaheim. PR #276
