Language Arts This Week
Theme 5: Voyagers
We are beginning Theme 5, which is focusing on voyages people have taken in the past. . Below are this story's skills that your kids will be focusing on. At the end of the story, your child will be tested on the grammar skill, vocabulary words and definitions, and structural analysis below. Please study these skills for the test.
This week's Reading Skills: Monitor/Clarify and Text Organization
We will be monioring our understanding of the content we ready while focusing on how certain stories are organized by the author for the reader. By dates, by subheadings, etc.
This week's Word Work:
Spelling/Phonics: VCCV Patterns. *If your child has difficulty in spelling, daily practice using the spelling rules will help establish patterns in their minds when spelling. Once they recognize the patterns in spelling, spelling becomes easier.
Structural Analysis: VCCV Patterns
Looking at where to break words apart by their VCCV patterns.
Vocabulary Skill: Homophones:
Words that sound alike, but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

Writing: Writing a Research Report:
