BELL INTERMEDIATE
PHYSICAL EDUCATION GUIDELINES
The physical education department at Bell takes great pride in its
program. It is the goal of the department to guide your children in
learning lifetime fitness skills, sports, games, sportsmanship and
teamwork. We want to create a positive learning experience that is fun
and rewarding.
ACTIVITIES
Volleyball Team, Handball, Racquetball, Soccer, Bocce Ball, Speedball,
Ultimate Frisbee, Dance,
Softball, Football, Track/Field, Golf ,Archery, Basketball, Lacrosse, Hockey
These are some of the activities your child will participate in over
the next two years. In addition to these activities, the students will
participate in weekly one-mile runs and a half-mile run on the other
days. The emphasis of the PE program is to help students improve in
aerobic endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and agility.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION NOTES
A parent or guardian may give a student a written excuse for up to
three days. Notes should include: student’s name, date(s) to
be excused, reason for the excuse, parent/guardian signature, and phone
number. IF A STUDENT NEEDS TO BE EXCUSED FOR MORE THAN THREE DAYS A
DOCTORS NOTE IS REQUIRED. Students with special medical conditions
should give their teacher a doctor’s note outlining any
modifications that are needed in their daily physical activities.
Students that bring a note for PE will still be required to dress out
and their activities will be modified according to the note. Any forged
note in PE will result in an F for the day and an hour detention after
school.
ABSENCES
Students that are absent must makeup missing grade points for the days
they miss. Students must complete one summary of an article pertaining
to health, sports, fitness, nutrition, or Olympics. One summary is
required for each absence. Students may get articles from a newspaper,
magazine, or the Internet. The article must be attached to the summary.
UNIFORMS
Students are required to wear the proper uniform. NON-SUITS ARE
UNACCEPTABLE. Students may wear plain gray sweats (no writing or logos)
on cold weather days. A gray sweatshirt with the Bell PE logo is
available for $16.00. No alterations or modifications of uniforms will
be tolerated, i.e., torn, bleached and any writing other than the
student’s name.
LOCKS AND LOCKERS
Students are responsible for their own locks. The combination should be
closely guarded to protect against loss of clothes or lock. Students
must not share lockers, combinations or change their locker locations.
Long PE lockers may only be used during the class period.
DRESSING OUT
*Students that do not dress out lose 5 points and may receive a
referral to the assistant principal.
*Students who wear school clothes underneath their PE uniform will
receive minus 5 points.
